Tired... 1700 miles home
So... its been a couple of days since our last post, but that happens when you are tired as shit and are hungover from celebrating the New Year at Brown's with three Australian chicks (a.k.a snow bunnies) shitfaced. During the day New Year's eve we went to Vail which was huge, but slightly icy. The last two days we spent here in Breckenridge. Last night we got a bit of snow which made our last day here the best. ABOUT TO head out for a nice meal and then its home tomorrow morning. We have plenty of pictures but the internet is too slow and we are too impatient to upload them. Its been an awesome Christmas break from school here in Breckenridge only 1700 miles til NC.

2 days down, 3 to go...
So we just got in from the slopes here on Day 2. So far we've been pretty spoiled by the weather. It's been sunny around 30* both days. Yesterday the wind wasn't too bad but today it picked up a bit, as illustrated by my video (see link below). We got a little more adventurous today and went a little more through the back country and hit some jumps and what not. We also climbed to the top of one of the peaks which was 13,000ft. The climb up was quite miserable but well worth it once we started down. I'm getting pretty tired of typing so I'll just leave you with some pictures of us and the scenery.

Loooooong Ride but We Made It
So it was a long ride out here...about 1700 miles actually. We made it today around 3pm MT which is 5pm ET for a total travel time of 39ish hours. It was quite the road trip to say the least. We left around 1:20am Saturday morning. Made a stop just outside of Nashville for breakfast at McDonalds. Headed NW from there and stopped in St. Louis, Missouri. It was decently nice when we first got there but there was bad weather on the way. We went to a bar and grill to eat lunch and watch the UNC/WVU Bowl game. Ship the win to WVU (HOLLLLLA for anyone who beats UNC). We then headed over to the Arch to check it out. The storms then made there way in and started POURING. We attempted to go up in the arch but there was a severe thunderstorm warning so it was closed unfortunately. We then made our way back to the parking deck and proceeded to get soaked. Hit the road again and made our way to Kansas City. We stopped at some random, sketchy casino place and watched "Yes Man." We needed to waste a little more time so we did what any normal human would do when they need to waste a lot of time....we went to Denny's. From there it was on. We drove all the way to Denver and arrived around 7am MT. We didn't really have anything to do and we were all exhausted so we parked the car in a parking deck and all slept until 10:30am. Then it was off to the ESPNZone to watch some football. We watched the first 3 quarters of the Carolina game but then we got "kicked out." While games are on you have to average $10/person/hour to stay seated and we didn't meet the minimum. We drove around Denver for a little bit (a badass city) then hit the road. The Rockies were in sight. Pictures probably can't explain how awesome the views are but I'll post some anyways....

We're all checked into our hostel which is pretty homey. Everyones exhausted so we're probably just going to hang out, get some food and pass out tonight. Going to be up early in the morning to hit the slopes asap.

Hitting the Road
So it's now 1:55am and we're on the road. We hit the road at about 1:20am and it took this long to get the wireless internet card working. We've debated the path we want to take to get out there several times. The final concensus is to take 40 to Nashville, TN then shoot up to 70 and take that to Denver. We're going to stop in Denver and watch the Panthers game at the ESPN SportsZone on the way. We plan on driving 3 hour stretches each which should provide us enough time to rest between driving sesh's. Will update sometime but until then I'll leave you with a few pictures from the predeparture picture sesh typical of a departure from the Couture house.

Well actually it is taking forever to upload pictures on this wireless internet card so thats it for now.

Ideas

It all started back in the summer. A New Year's college road trip escapade to the far reaches of the Rockies. An idea turns to a possibility turns to actions. And here we are, four days from heading to Breckenridge, CO for 5 days of ridiculous snowboarding and New Year's partying.
We plan on staying in a hostel/bed and breakfast in downtown Breckenridge in a room no bigger than an average sized bedroom with two bunk beds. Talk about bro 'in it up. We leave December 27th and hopefully will get back by the start of the new semester, IF we make it back (haha). Here is some general information.
Boarders: Peter Couture, Kirk Bork, Kyle Bork, Zack Harris
Destination: Breckenridge, CO (base elevation 9,600 ft./summit elevation 13,000 ft.)

Goal: 5 days of shredding fresh powder, no broken bones, one hell of a timeMeans of travel: 2004 Chevy Trailblazer (approx. 1800 miles of pavement/snow to cover)
My plan is to update this blog at least everyday of our trip if not twice a day. We'll see how that goes. Hopefully, I will be able to upload some pics too. Packing and waiting to do. New posts from Breckenridge to come. Later.
